LOCAL BUSINESSES – get listed in local business directories

Monday morning marketing idea

Start with these services: Google My Business and Bing Places for Business. If you think it would be worth it, try Yahoo Localworks (a paid service) or a local online directory, like our local Life in Danderyd (free). Ask customers to leave reviews on your local business listings too and keep an eye on them to make sure that they are fair and that the listing is still looking good.

Use content you have already

Monday morning marketing idea

Don’t feel the need to create something new every time. If you have some great things you have written or photographed, use them again. Put short blog posts into a longer ebook or just a bigger post.  Report about a film you have made by writing about it from a different perspective.  Regularly check content you’ve already used to see if it is being read/looked at and shared. If you don’t have Google Analytics installed so you can find this out, check out our guide to who is looking at your website here:

Your product is amazing...but do your customers feel the same?

YOUR PRODUCT IS AMAZING
When you have a great business idea and start to develop it into something real, you may not have thought about why your prospective customers wouldn’t want to buy your product or service. For you it’s so very logical that they should buy it because you know it’s just perfect!

BUT DO YOUR CUSTOMERS FEEL THE SAME?
However, your customers don’t know or haven’t experienced what you’ve experienced when trying it out. That is why you need to put yourself in their shoes and think of the objections or barriers they might have when deciding to buy (or not buy) your product or service. It’s actually much more effective to counter their objections than to persuade them of why your product or service is so great.

REASSURANCE IS KEY
When you’ve thought of a list of things that might stop your prospective customer from buying, come up with some text, photos or even videos that counter the objections. You can even develop a guarantee that reassures them and minimises their (perceived) issues.

OUR APPROACH AS AN EXAMPLE
My Own Marketing Coach offers customers a 100% refund if they are unhappy with the advice we have given them and the results it is has yielded (provided they have done the things that we advised them to do). Why do we offer them a 100% refund? We are confident that our coaching is worth the investment, that’s why.

How do your customers feel?

View your customers’ requests or complaints as an asset not as a burden.

Happy customers will remain your customers and bring you new customers.

With that in mind, get back to your customers – fast. Offering great customer service and reacting fast to questions will have your customers raving about how great you are. People love to hear about great businesses and products…and they buy them.

Monday morning marketing idea

Build awareness of your business locally by sponsoring a local sports team or arts facility but make sure that you take advantage of it by getting your logo on uniforms, signs up everywhere, get mentioned in their emails and let the press know regularly.
